Some anime series are enjoyable because of their action, while others keep viewers interested through emotional stories and memorable characters. Mystery anime offers something different: questions that make you think, clues that are easy to miss and twists that can change how you understand the entire story.

These shows are ideal for viewers who enjoy solving puzzles, investigating strange events and trying to predict what happens next. Some focus on crime and detective work, while others mix mystery with supernatural elements or science fiction. If you are looking for your next anime watch, here are six mystery anime worth exploring.

1. Monster

Monster is a psychological thriller that follows Dr Kenzo Tenma, a talented Japanese surgeon working in Germany. After making a difficult decision at the hospital, Tenma becomes connected to a disturbing series of events involving a mysterious young man.

Instead of relying on constant action, the series builds suspense through conversations, investigations and complicated characters. As Tenma searches for answers, the story raises questions about morality, responsibility and the nature of evil.

Monster is a strong choice for viewers who enjoy slow-building mysteries with serious themes. Its detailed storytelling rewards people who pay attention to small clues and character motivations. Because the series takes its time developing the plot, it is best suited to viewers who enjoy thoughtful suspense rather than fast-paced entertainment.

2. Pluto

Pluto combines science fiction with detective mystery. Set in a world where humans and advanced robots live alongside each other, the story follows detective Gesicht as he investigates a series of unusual murders. The investigation gradually reveals a much larger mystery involving robots, human emotions and events from the past. Although the setting includes futuristic technology, the central questions are deeply human.

The series explores grief, prejudice, justice and the meaning of being alive. Its mystery develops through connected cases, making each new discovery important to the wider story. Pluto is worth watching if you want a suspenseful anime that combines a detective narrative with emotional depth and thoughtful science-fiction ideas.

3. The Promised Neverland

The Promised Neverland begins at Grace Field House, an apparently peaceful orphanage where children live under the care of a kind guardian. Emma, Norman and Ray enjoy their daily lives until a discovery reveals that their world is not what it seems.

The first season focuses on how the children investigate their surroundings, uncover hidden information and plan their next move. Their intelligence, teamwork and different personalities become essential as the danger grows. The suspense comes from the characters trying to understand a situation in which they cannot trust everything they see or hear. Small details often become important clues. For viewers who enjoy survival mysteries and clever strategies, the first season offers a gripping experience. Its tense atmosphere makes even quiet conversations feel significant.

4. Link Click

Link Click follows Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang, two young men who work at a photography studio with an unusual ability. They can enter photographs to experience events connected to the moments captured in them.

Their work initially appears to involve helping clients uncover personal truths or resolve unfinished business. However, individual assignments gradually connect to a more complicated story. The series combines mystery, emotional drama and supernatural elements. Each case introduces new questions, while decisions made during investigations can have serious consequences. Link Click is a good option for viewers who enjoy stories where a small detail can change the meaning of an entire situation. It also explores regret, friendship and the difficulty of changing the past.

5. Summertime Rendering

Summertime Rendering begins when Shinpei Ajiro returns to his island hometown after the death of a childhood friend. What initially appears to be a tragic homecoming soon develops into a mystery involving suspicious events and strange copies of people.

As Shinpei investigates, he discovers that the island holds secrets far more dangerous than he expected. The story combines supernatural horror, time-loop elements and investigative suspense. Each new discovery changes the situation, encouraging viewers to reconsider earlier events. The series also balances its mysteries with action and personal relationships. Summertime Rendering is particularly suitable for viewers who like fast-moving stories filled with clues, danger and unexpected developments.

6. Heavenly Delusion

Heavenly Delusion takes place in a mysterious world where two teenagers travel through the remains of a damaged civilisation. At the same time, children live inside a protected facility that appears separated from the outside world.

The two storylines gradually introduce questions about the environment, the people involved and the relationship between the two settings. Rather than explaining everything immediately, the series encourages viewers to connect clues as the journey continues.

Its mix of adventure, science fiction and mystery creates an unsettling atmosphere. The changing locations and unusual events make the world itself feel like a puzzle. Heavenly Delusion is worth considering if you enjoy stories that reveal information gradually and leave you thinking about their details after an episode ends.
