Grand Blue is coming back for another season. The production of Grand Blue Dreaming Season 4 has now been officially confirmed, just after Season 3 finished airing in Japan on September 21, 2026. A new announcement visual was released with the news, giving fans an early hint about where the next chapter could be heading.
The announcement is especially interesting because the new visual is not focused only on diving. Instead, it points toward the romantic competition surrounding Iori Kitahara. Chisa Kotegawa, Aina Yoshiwara and Sakurako Busujima appear in the visual, while Iori is shown in a much less comfortable situation. That has already given fans plenty to speculate about what Season 4 could bring.
Grand Blue Season 4 has been confirmed
The fourth season was announced immediately after the Season 3 finale. At the moment, the production announcement does not include a broadcast date, episode count or detailed information about when the new season will begin. Further staff and cast information has also not been announced yet.
That means viewers will have to wait for the next official update before knowing when Iori and the rest of the Grand Blue cast will return. For now, the production confirmation itself is the main news.
The timing is still notable. Grand Blue has had a long gap between some of its anime seasons. The first season aired in 2018, while Season 2 arrived in 2025. Season 3 then followed in 2026 and ran from July through September, giving the franchise a much faster return to television than the gap between the first two seasons.
Iori’s romantic problems may become a bigger part of Season 4
Grand Blue is usually remembered for its diving setting and chaotic college comedy, but its characters have also developed complicated relationships over the course of the anime.
Iori starts the story expecting a typical university experience near the sea. Instead, life at his uncle’s diving shop introduces him to the eccentric members of the diving club and a college life that is very different from what he imagined.
The new Season 4 visual appears to lean more heavily into the romantic side of the story. Chisa has always been an important part of Iori’s life, while Aina and Sakurako bring their own dynamics into the group. The visual has been described as hinting at an increasingly heated love battle around Iori.
That does not confirm exactly what will happen in the next season. It does, however, suggest that the relationship drama could become more prominent alongside the usual comedy and diving elements.
What we know about the anime so far
Grand Blue Dreaming is based on the manga written by Kenji Inoue and illustrated by Kimitake Yoshioka. The manga began serialization in Kodansha’s Good! Afternoon magazine in 2014 and has surpassed 11 million copies in circulation.
The anime first arrived in 2018. A live-action movie followed in 2020, and the franchise has also received a stage adaptation. The television anime returned with Season 2 in 2025 and Season 3 in 2026.
Season 3 was animated by ZERO-G and Liber, with Shinji Takamatsu serving as director. At this stage, fans should not assume that the same full production team will return for Season 4 because those details have not yet been officially announced.
For now, the important update is simple: Grand Blue Season 4 is in production. There is no release date yet, but the new visual suggests that Iori’s already chaotic college life could become even more complicated when the series returns.
